Latest News Update About Akai Mobile Phones: Akai India announced its entry in the Indian Mobile market with the launch of 10 new mobile handsets with prices ranging from Rs.
1800 to Rs.8000. The price and range will appeal to consumers across all segments, mainly youth and will be available across 8000 retail outlets in India. By September end, Akai India plans to take the count to 20,000.
Akai India Managing Director Pranay Dhabhai said, "We have introduced a range of phones that will cater to the requirements of all segments of consumers across categories. We hope to become a prominent player in the Rs. 700 billion mobile handset market in the coming years,". Dhabhai added that they were looking into other verticals like inverters, netbooks, accessories for mobile phones (and) fixed line wireless phones.
Akai Mobile phones basic models will have dual sim, long lasting battery and large high resolution QVGA screen. Whereas the high end models will have full torch 3-D user interfae, wi-fi, wireless FM with recording, compatibility with social networking sites and e-book compatibility. Akai is also planning to launch 3G models by the end of 2010 and its handsets are already undergoing trails.
The company will have a centre to repair mobile chip in Gurgaon, with an investment of about Rs. 5 crore to Rs. 10 crore.
