Louis Tong Qing Yao

Latest News Update About Louis Tong Qing Yao: A fifth person has been charged as an accomplice to the recent murder of a Republic Polytechnic student at Downtown East.

Louis Tong Qing Yao, a 16-year-old student, is accused of being part of an unlawful assembly that assaulted and killed 19-year-old Darren Ng Wei Jie in broad daylight about two Saturdays ago at the Pasir Ris resort and entertainment complex.

Tong also has three other charges filed against him for acting on behalf of an illegal moneylender.

Three of the youth charged with murder last week Tang Jia Min, 21, Ho Wui Ming, 20, and Chen Wei Zhen, 19 ― will join Tong back in court next Tuesday.

The final accomplice, 18-year-old Edward Tay Wei Loong, is still warded at Changi General Hospital after injuring his head while trying to escape police arrest last week.

The unemployed teenager is reported to be held in a secure ward where no visitors, including his parents, are allowed.

Tay's lawyers, Subhas Anandan and Sunil Sudheesan have made a request with prosecution to allow his parents to visit him.

His case will be mentioned again in court later this month.
