The movie, starring newcomer Jesse Eisenberg and pop star Justin Timberlake, scored big in its debut last weekend when it was the top earner with 22.4 million dollars in ticket sales, according to box office tracker Exhibitor Relations.
Second place went to the debut of "Life As We Know It," a romantic comedy about two single adults thrown together after their mutual best friends die in a car crash, and who try to jointly raise their friends' baby. It earned 14.6 million dollars.
Third place went to the new family movie "Secretariat" about the Triple Crown-winning race horse, which grossed 12.6 million dollars.
"Legend of the Guardians," an animated owl drama, came in fourth place, earning seven million.
It was followed by a new movie "My Soul to Take" one of a long list of films planned for the Halloween horror movie season, which took in 6.9 million dollars.
Sixth place went to "The Town," Ben Affleck's fast-paced bank heist flick set in his hometown of Boston, with 6.7 million dollars.
"Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" took seventh with 4.6 million.
In eighth place was teen comedy "Easy A".
"Case 39? a horror-thriller starring Renee Zellweger took the ninth spot with 2.6 million dollars in ticket sales.
"You Again," a family comedy starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Sigourney Weaver, was in 10th with an estimated 2.47 million dollars in tickets sold. g
